AM General LLC, a global provider of light tactical vehicles and mobility solutions, has finalized a three-year Direct Commercial Sale (DCS) framework contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo. The agreement covers the sale of HUMVEE Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer Systems (MHS), along with support vehicles, spare parts, and training and maintenance services.
Contract Scope and Military Capabilities
The contract includes HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer Systems equipped with patented soft recoil technology, enabling the platform to absorb up to 60 percent of recoil forces. This advanced capability allows the system to emplace, fire, and displace in under 90 seconds, significantly improving survivability compared to traditional towed artillery systems.

Enhancing Kosovo Security Force Operations
In addition to the Hawkeye systems, the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will receive ambulances, command-and-control vehicles, and other HUMVEE-based support trucks. Collectively, these assets will enable a complete artillery battery configuration and establish indirect fire capabilities for the KSF. Initial deliveries are expected to begin within the next two years.
Strategic Defense Partnership
The contract was formally finalized by senior leadership from both organizations, marking a milestone in defense cooperation between AM General and Kosovo’s Ministry of Defense. According to AM General, the agreement reflects growing international demand for mobile, rapidly deployable artillery systems that enhance operational flexibility and force protection.

Technological Significance of the HUMVEE Hawkeye
The HUMVEE Hawkeye integrates a 105mm cannon onto the battle-proven HUMVEE platform through soft recoil technology, allowing heavy firepower on a lightweight, highly mobile chassis. This configuration offers enhanced maneuverability and faster response times for modern military operations.
