APM Terminals Elizabeth is accelerating port electrification with an order for 96 Orange EV HUSK-e® XP electric terminal trucks, marking one of the largest port electrification commitments to date. Manufactured in Kansas City, the zero-emission trucks are designed for heavy-duty terminal operations and support APM Terminals’ broader modernization strategy.
The order builds on Orange EV’s growing partnership with APM Terminals, following the expansion of its electric fleet at Pier 400 in Los Angeles from 20 pilot trucks to 60. The HUSK-e XP features a 310-kWh LFP battery and can move up to 180,000 pounds of combined weight, while Orange EV reports more than 97% fleet uptime across its installed base.
The Elizabeth deployment reflects a broader shift in the port industry from testing electric yard equipment to scaling proven zero-emission fleets. With ports facing increasing pressure to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, electric terminal tractors are emerging as an important technology for modernizing cargo-handling operations.
Orange EV has surpassed 14 million hours and 33 million miles of real-world operation across its fleet. The company says its trucks are supported by a turnkey electrification ecosystem that includes EV charging infrastructure, service, and purpose-built terminal equipment.
