Brandon, Mississippi — AVAIO Digital Partners has announced plans to build a $6 billion AI-ready data center hub in Rankin County, establishing the Greater Jackson region as an emerging hub for cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
The development, named AVAIO Digital Taurus, will span 175 acres in the City of Brandon and is expected to generate major economic, technological, and workforce benefits across the state.
A Transformative Investment in Mississippi’s Tech Economy
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves welcomed the project, calling it “one of the most remarkable achievements to date” in positioning the state as a business and innovation destination.
Construction on the first phase — totaling 600,000 square feet of data center buildings with 116 MW of power capacity — is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
The hub will feature:
- Low-latency connectivity with direct links to Dallas and Atlanta
- Sustainable infrastructure including rooftop solar, water-efficient cooling, rainwater recapture, and economized cooling systems
- World-class architecture in a park-like, buffered setting
Economic & Workforce Impact
The $6 billion commitment will create thousands of jobs during construction and long-term operations, tapping into Greater Jackson’s skilled labor pool.
Bill Cork, Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), emphasized the significance:
“Landing a multi-billion-dollar project like AVAIO Digital’s new campus doesn’t happen by chance—it’s the result of Mississippi’s laser focus on attracting world-class companies with strong resources and shovel-ready sites.”
MDA has approved Taurus for the state’s Data Center Enterprises tax exemption, while local officials in Rankin County and Brandon are providing infrastructure upgrades and tax incentives.
Strategic Energy Partnerships
The project will be powered by Entergy Mississippi, a leader in clean energy generation. CEO Haley Fisackerly highlighted how the initiative underscores the state’s transition into a new era of economic growth driven by sustainable, reliable power infrastructure.
A New Hub for AI and Cloud Computing
Mark McComiskey, CEO of AVAIO Digital stated, “The Greater Jackson area is poised to become a new hub for cloud computing and AI development, and we are delighted to partner with the City of Brandon to make a significant investment in expanding the region’s digital and energy infrastructure. Mississippi provides a unique opportunity for hyperscalers to rapidly expand their digital presence in close proximity to established data center markets in a highly sustainable way
The Brandon Data Hub is part of AVAIO Digital’s expanding hyperscale portfolio across the U.S. and Europe. The company has already secured 1.2 GW of utility power across sites in California, Virginia, Arkansas, and Mississippi, with 450 MW scheduled to come online by 2027.
Local Leadership on the Ground
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves said, “Rankin County stands to gain tremendously from this high-impact investment, with benefits expected to extend across Rankin County and the Metro Jackson region. Our continued efforts to position the state as a premier destination for business are yielding meaningful results, and AVAIO Digital’s commitment marks one of the most remarkable achievements to date. I am beyond proud to be able to witness firsthand our sustained momentum in the global data technology market. Congratulations to everyone involved in this exciting new venture.”
