Jensen Huang Highlights Robotics as South Korea’s Next Major Growth Sector

Nvidia CEO signals deeper collaboration with Korean manufacturers as physical AI and robotics emerge as key industrial opportunities

Nvidia CEO and founder Jensen Huang has identified robotics as the next major growth sector for South Korea, emphasizing the country’s unique position to capitalize on the convergence of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and automation technologies. During a visit to Seoul, Huang highlighted the potential of “physical AI” and robotics to transform industries, while signaling plans for deeper collaboration between Nvidia and leading Korean manufacturers.

His remarks come at a time when global manufacturers are accelerating investments in intelligent automation to improve productivity, address labor shortages, and strengthen competitiveness in increasingly complex industrial environments.

Robotics and Physical AI Take Center Stage

Speaking after arriving at Gimpo International Airport, Huang described robotics as a significant future opportunity for South Korea, citing the nation’s strong manufacturing ecosystem and technological capabilities. According to reports, he noted that South Korea’s industrial foundation creates an ideal environment for deploying physical AI technologies, which combine artificial intelligence with real-world robotic systems.

Physical AI is increasingly viewed as the next phase of industrial automation, enabling robots to perceive, reason, and interact with their surroundings more effectively than traditional programmed systems. The technology has the potential to expand automation beyond repetitive tasks into more adaptive and complex industrial operations.

Meetings with Korea’s Technology and Manufacturing Leaders

During his visit, Huang was scheduled to meet executives from several of South Korea’s leading industrial and technology companies, including Hyundai Motor Company, LG Electronics, SK hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Naver Corporation.

The discussions are expected to focus on opportunities in AI infrastructure, robotics deployment, semiconductor technologies, and advanced manufacturing applications. Huang also hinted at potential developments during the visit, telling reporters that he had “some surprises” planned, further fueling industry speculation about future partnerships and initiatives.

Why South Korea Is Well Positioned for Robotics Growth

South Korea is widely recognized as one of the world’s most technologically advanced manufacturing economies. The country maintains strong positions in semiconductor production, automotive manufacturing, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment, creating an ecosystem well suited for large-scale automation deployment.

These industries already rely heavily on robotics and machine automation for tasks such as assembly, inspection, logistics, and material handling. The integration of AI-driven capabilities into these systems could significantly enhance operational efficiency, flexibility, and decision-making across manufacturing environments.

As AI models become more capable and accessible, companies are increasingly exploring how robotics can move beyond fixed automation processes toward more intelligent and adaptive operations.

Nvidia’s Expanding Role in Industrial AI

Huang’s comments reflect Nvidia’s broader strategy of extending its influence beyond AI computing infrastructure into robotics, simulation, and industrial digitalization. The company has been investing heavily in technologies that enable autonomous systems, digital twins, AI-powered factories, and next-generation robotics platforms.

By partnering with manufacturing companies, Nvidia aims to help accelerate the adoption of AI-enabled automation solutions that leverage its hardware and software ecosystem. Such collaborations could support applications ranging from smart factories and autonomous logistics to advanced robotic workcells and industrial inspection systems.

The growing importance of physical AI also aligns with increasing demand for real-time inference, computer vision, and autonomous decision-making capabilities in industrial environments.
