Hyundai Motor America, in partnership with Children’s of Alabama, recently hosted a community child safety seat inspection event at The Summit Birmingham, reinforcing their shared mission to protect young passengers. Since the collaboration began, the initiative has served over 1,179 families and replaced more than 190 car seats, underscoring Hyundai’s long-standing commitment to safety through its Hyundai Hope program.
A Community-Focused Safety Initiative
The event brought together families and certified child passenger safety technicians, who inspected car seats for recalls, expiration dates, and proper installation. Families in need also received replacement seats, ensuring every child had a safe and properly fitted restraint system. This proactive community engagement reflects Hyundai’s belief that vehicle safety extends beyond design—it starts with education and empowerment.
Leadership Perspective
“The safety of our youngest passengers is paramount and extends far beyond the vehicles we design,” said Cole Stutz, Chief Safety Officer, Hyundai Motor North America. “Our partnership with Children’s of Alabama demonstrates how community engagement and innovation can work together to make a meaningful difference. By providing families with knowledge and resources, we help ensure every child travels safely.”
The Need for Awareness
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 50% of all car seats are installed incorrectly or misused. When properly installed, child safety seats can reduce fatal injury risk by 71% for infants and 54% for children aged 1 to 4, making awareness programs like Hyundai’s essential in saving lives.
Ongoing Partnership for Safer Communities
“We are grateful to Hyundai for this continued partnership,” said Ashley Bridgmon, Manager of the Health Education and Safety Center at Children’s of Alabama. “Through their support, we are able to promote child passenger safety and empower families with the knowledge they need to protect their children on the roads.”
The event reflects the ongoing commitment of Hyundai and Children’s of Alabama to create healthier, safer communities through practical education and accessibility.
