Brellium Raises $16.7M to Fix Clinical Accuracy with AI

Can AI make clinical documentation safer—before it becomes dangerous?
That’s the mission Brellium is taking on, and investors are paying attention.

    What’s the problem they’re solving?

In the fast-paced world of healthcare, documentation is everything—but also one of its biggest vulnerabilities. Inaccurate or outdated patient notes can lead to misdiagnosis, mistreatment, compliance violations, and staggering administrative waste.

    Demo

Brellium’s origin story began with something all too common: a medical misdiagnosis. Co-founder Zach Rosen experienced the problem firsthand, then teamed up with Henry Kasa, Max Katzman, and Alex Le-Tu in 2021 to build a solution.

Their insight? Traditional spot checks of patient charts weren’t enough. What if every chart could be audited, in real-time?

    So, what’s Brellium building?

Brellium uses AI to audit 100% of patient charts, continuously and in real time. The system flags compliance gaps, outdated or contradictory notes, and potential risks before they result in harm or penalties.

Unlike legacy tools that require manual review or only audit a sample of records, Brellium acts more like a co-pilot for medical documentation—offering oversight across entire clinics, not just isolated patient files.

    It’s already proving transformative:

    • Clients like Headspace, Grow Therapy, and Hopebridge are using Brellium to scan millions of charts.
    • Clinics have reported 98% reductions in compliance-related costs.
    • Providers are now freed from tedious admin, allowing them to focus on care.

    What’s new with the funding?

This week, Brellium announced a $16.7M funding round led by First Round Capital and Menlo Ventures, with participation from prominent angel investors. The capital will support the startup’s expansion into new markets, especially behavioural and specialty care providers across the U.S.  The raise is significant not just for its size, but because of who’s backing it—a strong signal of confidence in both Brellium’s business model and its mission to make care safer through automation.

    Why now?

Healthcare providers are under immense strain—burnout, growing patient volumes, and rising compliance burdens are leading to critical blind spots. AI has become a key ally in areas like diagnostics and imaging, but Brellium is one of the few startups targeting the foundation of care: documentation itself.

And with ongoing regulatory shifts, documentation audits aren’t just a quality control issue—they’re increasingly a financial and legal imperative. By catching issues at the source, Brellium helps healthcare systems avoid liability, protect patients, and reduce burnout.

    What’s next?

The company is rapidly expanding its team and product capabilities, and says the new funding will help bring its AI-powered compliance layer to hundreds of clinics over the next year. The long-term goal is even broader: making real-time AI chart audits standard in healthcare, not just a luxury of large providers.

Co-founder Zach Rosen puts it simply:

“We don’t want to replace providers. We want to protect them—so patients don’t fall through the cracks.”
