The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) has launched a striking new public awareness campaign: “More Than Just the Music Has Changed.” Its mission? To alert parents that the marijuana circulating today is far more potent—and more dangerous—than ever before.
Why It Matters
Modern illicit marijuana can be up to 307 times stronger than what parents may have encountered in their youth. With THC concentrations up over 200%, the stakes are high—especially for adolescents whose brains are still developing.
“Today’s marijuana is not the same drug many parents might remember,” said Elaine Pozycki, Chair of PDFNJ. “We created this campaign as a wake-up call. Parents need to understand the risks of today’s high-potency cannabis products and talk with their kids before use begins.”
Mental Health Risks on the Rise
Scientific studies now link high-potency cannabis use to a fivefold increase in psychosis risk in teens. The PDFNJ campaign urges early, honest conversations between parents and kids before experimentation begins.

The billboard campaign will span multiple New Jersey counties throughout the year, featuring hard-hitting facts and resources for families seeking guidance.
