Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) has announced a $25,000 donation to University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital to strengthen pedestrian, bicycle, and car seat safety initiatives in Washtenaw County, Michigan.
The announcement was made during a check presentation event held in Ann Arbor on February 12, 2026, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving child and community safety through education and access to essential resources.
Expanding No-Cost Safety Resources
The funding will support established community safety events and expand access to free protective equipment and educational materials for families. Participants will receive car seats (as needed), properly fitted helmets, high-visibility reflectors, and guidance on best practices for pedestrian, bicycle, and passenger safety.

HATCI employees will also volunteer alongside the hospital’s Injury Prevention team, strengthening collaboration between industry professionals and healthcare experts to enhance community outreach efforts.
Leadership Perspectives
John Robb, President of HATCI, emphasized that community safety is a shared responsibility, noting that the partnership equips families with the tools and knowledge necessary to protect their loved ones.
Luanne Thomas Ewald, Chief Operating Officer of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, highlighted the impact of HATCI’s philanthropy in enabling broader distribution of safety resources and supporting outreach programs designed to keep children safe and healthy.
Institutional Commitment to Child Health
