SpaceX Secures $1.11 Billion Monthly AI Compute Deal, Expanding Its Data Center Business

SpaceX is expanding beyond rockets and satellite communications with a major new artificial intelligence infrastructure agreement. The company has secured a compute hosting deal worth approximately $1.11 billion per month with an undisclosed customer, with the agreement scheduled to begin on December 1, 2026. The deal could represent roughly $13.3 billion in annualized revenue for SpaceX and further strengthens its growing position in the AI computing market.

The agreement highlights how rapidly demand for AI computing capacity is reshaping the technology infrastructure landscape. SpaceX has been developing large-scale data center capabilities, including its Colossus facilities in Mississippi and Tennessee, turning excess and expanded computing capacity into a significant commercial business. The company already has major compute arrangements with Anthropic and Google, adding further scale to its AI infrastructure operations.

From Space Infrastructure to AI Infrastructure

SpaceX’s growing involvement in AI computing represents a significant extension of its technology portfolio. According to recent reporting, the company invested approximately $16 billion in AI infrastructure during the second quarter of 2026, while its cloud-services business added billions of dollars in signed commitments during the early part of the third quarter.

The company’s strategy is also looking beyond conventional data centers. SpaceX is planning to launch its first orbital data centers toward the end of 2027, reflecting a longer-term vision in which computing infrastructure could increasingly operate in space. Such an approach could eventually address some of the power, cooling and land constraints associated with rapidly expanding terrestrial AI facilities.

A New Revenue Engine for SpaceX

The latest agreement comes as SpaceX works toward an ambitious $100 billion annualized revenue target. The new contract, combined with existing AI compute partnerships, demonstrates the commercial potential of the company’s expanding data-center and cloud-services operations.

For the broader U.S. technology and industrial ecosystem, SpaceX’s expansion illustrates a larger shift: AI is no longer only a software story. It is driving demand for data centers, high-performance computing, power infrastructure, networking, advanced semiconductors and new approaches to computing architecture.

As AI workloads continue to grow, the companies capable of building and operating large-scale computing infrastructure are increasingly becoming strategic players in the next phase of the technology industry.
