Hy-Tek Intralogistics has launched two specialized automation solutions designed specifically for the beverage distribution industry: Hy-Flo™ and Hy-Sync™. The modular solutions are designed to help North American beverage distributors respond to growing SKU portfolios, labor shortages and demanding route-delivery service requirements.
The announcement comes ahead of the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) Annual Convention, where Hy-Tek will showcase its beverage fulfillment capabilities and invite distribution leaders to explore automation solutions at its 20,000-square-foot Innovation Lab in Erlanger, Kentucky.
Addressing the Complexity of Expanding Beverage Portfolios
Beverage distribution facilities are facing increasing operational complexity as product portfolios expand beyond traditional beer offerings to include wine, spirits, seltzers and ready-to-drink beverages.
According to Hy-Tek, many distribution facilities were originally designed around a few hundred SKUs. As portfolios grow into the thousands, existing warehouse configurations can face increasing pressure on storage capacity, travel distances and fulfillment processes.
The company’s Beverage Solutions Group, led by Zac Boehm, Chief Automation Officer and Beverage Solutions Group Leader, developed Hy-Flo and Hy-Sync as flexible alternatives to rigid, one-size-fits-all automation approaches.
Hy-Flo: High-Velocity Flow Automation
Hy-Flo™ is designed as a unified, high-velocity automation solution combining multiple technologies within the beverage distribution workflow.
The solution integrates:
- Automated case storage and retrieval
- Robotic depalletizing and palletizing options
- Autonomous pallet load movers
By connecting these capabilities, Hy-Flo is designed to increase productivity while supporting picking and inventory accuracy and maintaining stable pallet builds.
The approach is intended for distributors seeking a more comprehensive automation strategy capable of addressing high-throughput fulfillment requirements across their operations.
Hy-Sync: Targeted Automation for Long-Tail SKUs
Hy-Sync™ takes a more targeted approach by addressing slow-moving, long-tail SKUs and high-velocity fast-moving products through a dense robotic buffering system.
The solution isolates and automates selected inventory within the buffer, reducing the amount of manual walking required by warehouse selectors. Cases can then be sequenced directly toward outbound staging docks.
This targeted approach gives distributors another option when a complete warehouse automation overhaul may not be necessary or appropriate for their specific operational requirements.
Automation Designed Around Distribution Needs
The launch reflects the increasing operational pressure created by expanding beverage portfolios and workforce challenges.
Beverage distributors must manage a growing number of products while maintaining fulfillment speed and meeting delivery schedules. Hy-Tek’s two solutions are positioned around different levels of automation—from a comprehensive high-throughput system through Hy-Flo to targeted buffering and sequencing through Hy-Sync.
Zac Boehm said the solutions are designed to address the limitations of traditional manual warehouse processes while giving distributors flexibility in determining how much of their operation to automate.
The company describes the objective as helping distributors protect operating margins while ensuring outbound trucks can depart according to schedule.
Hy-Tek to Showcase Automation at NBWA
Hy-Tek plans to engage with beverage distribution leaders during the upcoming NBWA Annual Convention, where executives can meet with Boehm and the Beverage Solutions Group to review facility metrics and explore potential automation strategies.
Following the convention, Hy-Tek will host Solution Exploration Discovery Days at its Innovation Lab in Erlanger.
Operating under the motto “We Don’t Guess, We Test,” the Innovation Lab provides beverage executives with an opportunity to experience robotics, software execution and palletizing systems in operation before making capital investment decisions.
The hands-on environment is intended to allow distributors to evaluate potential technologies against their operational requirements before implementing them within their facilities.

Hy-Flo and Hy-Sync represent Hy-Tek’s effort to provide beverage distributors with modular approaches to warehouse automation as product portfolios and operational demands continue to evolve.
