MEQUON, WI — More than 1,000 cyclists from across the country will gather in Mequon, Wisconsin, on July 26–27, 2025, for the 33rd Annual Scenic Shore Bike Tour, a two-day, 150-mile charity ride organized by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The event aims to raise substantial funding for blood cancer research, patient services, and policy advocacy—continuing LLS’s 75-year mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other blood cancers.

The Scenic Shore ride features three route options—25, 75, and 150 miles—all along the stunning Lake Michigan shoreline. Participants include cancer survivors, medical professionals, families, and supporters, all pedaling together in solidarity with patients and caregivers fighting blood cancer.
A Personal and Powerful Mission
“Scenic Shore is more than a bike ride—it’s a movement,” said Coker Powell, LLS Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer. “Every rider is helping us push closer to our goal of giving blood cancer patients more than one million years of life by 2040.”
This year’s event holds personal meaning for LLS Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gwen Nichols, who will ride alongside her son, Jesse Rost. Their participation reflects the organization’s deeply personal commitment to improving lives through research and community action.
Honoring Survivors and Advocates
Two survivors will be prominently recognized during this year’s ride:
- Jessica Salmonowicz, this year’s Scenic Shore Honored Hero, is a leukemia survivor who credits LLS-funded research with saving her life. She first joined the ride in 2012 and continues to participate in gratitude.
- Paul Westrick, a multiple myeloma survivor, joined the event in 2008 and plans to return after recovering from a second stem cell transplant.
Their friendship, formed through Scenic Shore, embodies the community-driven impact of LLS events.
