Saudi Arabia’s Human Capability Development Program (HCDP) has announced the third edition of the Human Capability Initiative (HCI) Conference, scheduled to take place in Riyadh from 03–04 May 2026. Held under the theme “The Human Code,” the event is expected to convene more than 15,000 global leaders to shape the future of human capability development in an era defined by rapid technological transformation and artificial intelligence.
The United Kingdom has been named the Country of Honor, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and the UK in education, workforce development, and economic collaboration.
Strategic Context and Leadership Patronage
The conference will be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the HCDP Committee. The announcement coincides with Prince William’s visit to the Kingdom, reinforcing bilateral engagement at both strategic and diplomatic levels.
HCI 2026 is set to feature more than 250 local and international speakers, including policymakers, industry executives, academics, non-profit leaders, and representatives from global think tanks. Discussions will focus on optimizing learning and working environments to maximize human capability in the age of artificial intelligence.
Strengthening Saudi–UK Strategic Cooperation
The United Kingdom’s designation as Country of Honor underscores expanding cooperation between the two nations. Recent initiatives include the launch of the “Skills of the Future” program at the 2025 HCI Conference, aimed at advancing workforce readiness, educational exchange, and economic integration.
Saudi officials emphasized that investing in human capital remains central to national competitiveness. The conference aligns closely with Saudi Vision 2030, particularly its objective of building a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and talent development.
Vision 2030 and Human Capital Development
Since its inception, the Human Capability Initiative has evolved into a prominent global platform for dialogue on education reform, workforce transformation, and long-term economic resilience. Across its first two editions, HCI attracted more than 23,000 participants, featured over 550 speakers, and facilitated more than 156 partnerships and initiatives.
