Teradyne Robotics, a global leader in collaborative and autonomous mobile robotics, has announced plans to open a new U.S. Operations Hub in Wixom, Metro Detroit, Michigan, in 2026. The expansion underscores the company’s strategy to operate closer to customers while supporting the growing demand for advanced automation across U.S. manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing sectors.
Manufacturing, Training, and Customer Engagement Hub
The new Wixom facility will manufacture Universal Robots (UR) industrial collaborative robots (cobots), with future potential to include MiR autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Beyond production, the site will function as a regional customer training center, service hub, and visitor experience center, providing hands-on access to Teradyne’s robotics technologies for customers and partners across the Americas.
Supporting U.S. Re-industrialization and Automation
Teradyne Robotics positions the new hub as a direct contribution to the re-industrialization of America, addressing key industry priorities such as productivity growth, reshoring of manufacturing, workforce upskilling, and automation-driven competitiveness. The facility is expected to play a critical role in helping U.S. manufacturers respond to labor shortages while improving operational efficiency.
“This new U.S. Operations Hub is a pivotal step to support the growth of advanced robotics in America and demonstrates our commitment to customers in the United States,” said Jean-Pierre Hathout, President of the Teradyne Robotics Group. “We are investing in both automation and education by scaling deployment, service, and training capabilities to meet the evolving needs of American industry.”
Job Creation and Regional Impact
The Wixom expansion will significantly strengthen Teradyne’s presence in the Detroit region, creating more than 200 jobs over the coming years. The site will serve as a new robotics technology hub supporting advanced manufacturing across Michigan, the Midwest, and the broader U.S. market, reinforcing Detroit’s role in the future of industrial innovation.
