Zoomlion Launches MEWP Factory Operations in Hungary to Strengthen European Footprint

Lead-in: New facility enhances local manufacturing, logistics efficiency, and service capabilities across Europe

Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has officially commenced operations at its Smart Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) factory in Hungary, marking a significant step in expanding its localized manufacturing and service capabilities across Europe.

Strategic Location and Manufacturing Capabilities

Located in Tatabánya, the new facility serves as a key logistics hub connecting major routes between Eastern and Western Europe. The factory manufactures boom lifts and scissor lifts, ensuring a stable and efficient supply of MEWP products tailored for European markets.

Its strategic positioning allows the company to streamline distribution, reduce delivery timelines, and respond more effectively to regional demand.

Strengthening Regional Service and Supply Chain

Beyond production, the Hungarian factory enhances Zoomlion’s regional service network by improving spare parts availability, technical support, and after-sales responsiveness. The facility is also expected to generate hundreds of local jobs while fostering collaboration with regional suppliers.

This localized approach supports the development of a stronger industrial ecosystem, aligning with Europe’s increasing focus on supply chain resilience and regional manufacturing.

Expansion Plans in Germany

Parallel to its Hungary operations, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. is advancing Phase II of its German factory project. The expansion includes the modernization of the WILBERT TowerCranes GmbH facility, acquired by Zoomlion.

With an investment exceeding €50 million, the upgraded site will produce tower cranes, truck-mounted cranes, and concrete machinery, further broadening the company’s localized manufacturing capabilities in Europe.

Driving Globalization Through Localization

Zoomlion’s investments in Hungary and Germany reflect its broader strategy of integrating globalization with localization. By establishing manufacturing, assembly, and service operations closer to end markets, the company can better meet regional standards, customer preferences, and application requirements.

Currently, Zoomlion operates 11 overseas R&D and manufacturing centers along with more than 430 sales and service locations across over 170 countries and regions.
