NorCal Auto Group, a Potamkin Automotive Group company operating three Hyundai dealerships in the Sacramento region, has expanded its support for Hyundai Hope on Wheels through a series of donations and community events supporting pediatric cancer research and care in Northern California.
The group’s three dealerships — Roseville Hyundai, Folsom Lake Hyundai and Elk Grove Hyundai — collectively contributed $50,000 to UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center earlier this year. Hyundai Hope on Wheels matched the contribution, bringing the total donation to $100,000.
The dealerships marked the contribution with a check presentation at a Sacramento Republic FC match on May 2.
Supporting Pediatric Cancer Research in Northern California
The donation forms part of NorCal Auto Group’s continuing involvement with Hyundai Hope on Wheels, a program supported by Hyundai Motor America and its dealer network.
On September 9, representatives from NorCal Auto Group attended a Hyundai Hope on Wheels check presentation at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. Hosted by Hyundai Motor America, the event highlighted ongoing support for pediatric cancer research and care and recognized the contribution of the Hyundai dealer community.
The group also participated in the Sacramento Handprint Ceremony at UC Davis in July. During the ceremony, children receiving cancer treatment placed painted handprints on a Hyundai vehicle, a longstanding symbol associated with the program.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels Expands 2026 Campaign
Hyundai Hope on Wheels is one of the largest corporate funders of childhood cancer research in the United States, according to the organization.
Supported by Hyundai Motor America and more than 855 dealers, Hyundai Hope on Wheels has directed more than $300 million toward pediatric cancer research since 1998, according to the release. The organization says its funding has helped improve outcomes for more than 40,000 children.
The organization’s 2026 activities are being conducted alongside Hyundai Motor America’s “The Mark of a Warrior” campaign, which reimagines the program’s signature handprint symbol as an emblem of strength and resilience.
Throughout September and beyond, the organization is holding approximately 42 handprint ceremonies, check presentations and Warrior Gown deliveries, along with more than 100 community blood drives.
Potamkin Dealerships Mark Nearly Three Decades of Support
Potamkin’s Hyundai dealerships have supported Hyundai Hope on Wheels since the program’s founding in 1998.
The dealership group has contributed more than $4 million to Hyundai Hope on Wheels over that period, reflecting a long-term philanthropic relationship with the program.
Cole Potamkin, CEO of Potamkin Auto Group, said the company is grateful to continue its family’s philanthropic efforts through partnerships with Hyundai, UC Davis and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
The Potamkin family’s broader philanthropic activities extend across areas including scientific research, mental and physical wellbeing, arts and culture, education and environmental initiatives.
Continuing Community Support
NorCal Auto Group’s latest contribution demonstrates how automotive dealer networks can extend their community involvement beyond vehicle sales and services.
Through its three Sacramento-area Hyundai dealerships, the group continues to participate in fundraising, awareness activities and events supporting pediatric cancer research and care.
The $100,000 combined contribution to UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, supported by Hyundai Hope on Wheels’ matching donation, adds to the broader funding directed toward pediatric cancer initiatives in Northern California and across the United States.
