Lorie Boyd joins Kodiak as Chief People Officer.

Lorie Boyd joins Kodiak AI as Chief People Officer, bringing more than 30 years of experience in human resources and organizational leadership at leading technology companies, including Turo, Salesforce, Oracle, Zendesk and Plume. Her appointment comes as Kodiak AI expands its autonomous trucking operations and strengthens its leadership team for the next phase of growth.

Based in Mountain View, California, Kodiak AI, Inc. (NASDAQ: KDK) develops autonomous driving technology for long-haul trucking, industrial transportation and defense applications. Boyd’s appointment is intended to strengthen the company’s people strategy as it scales its workforce, commercial relationships and autonomous trucking operations.

Lorie Boyd Brings Three Decades of Silicon Valley Leadership Experience

In her new position, Lorie Boyd will oversee Kodiak AI’s human resources strategy, including talent acquisition, employee development, organizational effectiveness and company culture.

Boyd brings experience from several established technology businesses, including Turo, Salesforce, Oracle, Zendesk and Plume. Her career has involved building human resources functions, supporting organizational transformation and guiding teams through periods of rapid business growth.

Most recently, Boyd served as Chief People Officer at Plume, where she led initiatives focused on strengthening organizational culture and employee engagement during a leadership transition.

Before joining Plume, she spent nearly eight years at Turo, the peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace. She initially served as Vice President of People before becoming Chief People Officer. During her tenure, she helped guide the company’s people strategy through significant growth, the COVID-19 pandemic and preparations for its initial public offering.

Her earlier experience includes leadership positions at Salesforce and Oracle. Boyd joined Salesforce as its 90th employee, before the company’s IPO, and helped establish its human resources operations during an important stage of its development.

At Zendesk, she served as Director of Recruiting, building and leading the company’s global recruitment team. During this period, the company’s workforce grew from approximately 100 to nearly 900 employees worldwide.

Boyd holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University.

Kodiak AI Strengthens Its Leadership Team for the Next Growth Phase

Commenting on the appointment, Don Burnette, Founder and CEO of Kodiak AI, highlighted the importance of building an organization that can grow alongside its technology.

Burnette emphasized that employees and organizational culture are central to the company’s development. He expects Boyd’s experience in strengthening leadership, supporting employees and building collaborative workplaces to contribute to Kodiak AI’s next phase of growth.

Boyd succeeds Zsuzsanna Major, who led Kodiak’s people operations from the company’s inception. According to the announcement, Major played an important role in the organization’s growth and development over the past eight years.

In her comments, Boyd described autonomous trucking as a major transformation in freight transportation and highlighted the opportunity to help build the organization supporting that change. She also noted the strength of Kodiak’s team and its commitment to the company’s mission as important reasons for joining.

Autonomous Trucking Expansion Drives Organizational Growth

The leadership appointment comes at a significant stage for Kodiak AI’s autonomous trucking business.

The company is preparing to launch long-haul driverless operations on public highways with IKEA as its shipper launch partner. It is also expanding commercial relationships with major trucking fleets across the United States.

Kodiak’s core technology, known as the Kodiak Driver, is a vehicle-agnostic autonomous driving system. It combines AI-powered software with modular hardware and is designed to support different vehicle platforms.

The system is already operating in commercial driverless service in the Permian Basin, where it is used in industrial trucking operations.

According to the company’s November 2 announcement, Kodiak had deployed its technology in 35 driverless trucks as of the end of the second quarter of 2026, operating without humans in the cab.

The company also works with commercial partners and customers across transportation, logistics, energy and defense. Its announced partners include DTL Transport, Atlas Energy Solutions, IKEA, Bridgestone, Werner Enterprises, C.R. England, General Dynamics Land Systems and Roehl Transport.

As autonomous driving technology moves toward broader commercial deployment, organizations developing these systems must also build the teams, operational structures and workforce capabilities required to support growth.

Why Leadership and People Strategy Matter in Autonomous Transportation

The appointment of Lorie Boyd reflects an important organizational dimension of the autonomous transportation industry. While technology development, vehicle platforms and AI capabilities remain central to autonomous trucking, companies also need experienced leadership to manage workforce expansion and organizational change.

For companies developing autonomous systems, scaling operations involves more than deploying vehicles. It also requires recruitment, employee development, leadership alignment and workplace structures that can support increasingly complex commercial activities.

Boyd’s experience across technology companies at different stages of growth gives Kodiak AI additional leadership experience as it works to expand its autonomous trucking operations.

The company’s next phase will involve advancing its public-highway operations, strengthening commercial partnerships and continuing to develop its driverless technology. How effectively it scales its people and organizational capabilities will be an important part of supporting those ambitions.

For the autonomous transportation industry, Kodiak AI’s leadership appointment highlights how talent strategy and technological innovation must develop together as driverless freight operations move toward wider commercial adoption.
