Nopetro Energy has inaugurated southern Florida’s first landfill gas (LFG) to renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility in Vero Beach, marking a milestone in clean energy innovation. The Nopetro EcoDistrict captures methane from the Indian River County landfill, converts it into low-carbon RNG, and injects it into Florida City Gas’ pipeline infrastructure, supplying homes, businesses, and fleets across the region.
Driving Economic and Environmental Impact
The facility not only provides a sustainable fuel alternative but also stimulates the local economy by creating employment and business opportunities for area contractors, maintenance providers, and local vendors. With CO₂ removal purifying the biogas to over 95% methane, the plant exceeds standards for safe RNG distribution and contributes to cleaner air in the community.
Partnership and Community Benefits
The project was developed in collaboration with engineering firm Mead & Hunt and reflects Nopetro Energy’s commitment to supporting cities where its facilities operate. Indian River County officials highlighted the partnership’s role in strengthening the local economy, supporting families, and ensuring reliable, sustainable energy access.
Expanding RNG Infrastructure
Nopetro Energy operates 13 renewable gas fueling stations across Florida and continues national expansion. The RNG is compressed into CNG to fuel transit and fleet operations, including the entire Central Florida Transit Authority fleet. Feedstock is sourced from renewable origins such as landfills and wastewater treatment plants, enabling a cleaner, domestic, and cost-effective alternative to diesel.

About Nopetro Energy
Founded in 2008, Nopetro Energy is a vertically integrated leader in renewable natural gas production and distribution. The company designs, builds, finances, and operates RNG plants and fueling stations, helping government agencies and businesses achieve fuel independence while creating lasting economic and environmental value.
LONGi Solar, in collaboration with its authorized partner Proxy Group, has launched Djibouti’s first off-grid solar power project in Adailou Village, Tadjourah region. This milestone deployment features LONGi’s latest Hi-MO X10 modules, delivering reliable energy access to a rural community long underserved by conventional power infrastructure.

Tackling Energy Poverty in Remote Communities
Adailou, a remote village, faced prolonged darkness and limited development opportunities due to energy poverty. The new 165 kW solar power plant with a 500 kWh energy storage system directly addresses these challenges, ensuring electricity for homes, schools, healthcare centers, and small businesses.
Operational Details: Hi-MO X10 Advantages
The project integrates LONGi’s HPBC 2.0-based Hi-MO X10 modules, offering:
-
Power density up to 670 W per module
-
Superior temperature coefficient (-0.26%/°C)
-
Anti-shading performance reducing power loss by 70%
-
Low degradation rates (1% in year one, 0.35% annually thereafter)
Huawei’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) complements the solar modules, ensuring uninterrupted supply and efficient energy distribution.

Economic Impact: Sustainability and Development
Reliable electricity translates into improved quality of life for Adailou residents, enabling education, healthcare, and small businesses to thrive. With minimal maintenance needs, the system ensures long-term sustainability and reduced reliance on fossil fuels, cutting operational costs for remote microgrids.
Strategic Significance: LONGi’s “Light Up Africa” Mission
The project aligns with LONGi’s “Light Up Africa” initiative, demonstrating how solar technology can drive equitable energy access. By pioneering off-grid solutions in Djibouti, LONGi reinforces its role in supporting Africa’s sustainable development while showcasing the durability and efficiency of the Hi-MO X10 in harsh environments.
